Our Mission

Foster care is a time of physical and emotional displacement on top of times (even a lifetime) of difficulties, abuses, neglects and traumas for children. Birth families and even children see coming into care as a punishment. As foster parents, we’ve seen this first hand, and we understand the great need for children and birth families to have any kind of outside support.

This is the gap we founded Kids for Life to fill.

Katie’s Closet is our donation center from which we pull practical items such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, toys, blankets, diapers and more. We also provide special gifts for birthdays, Easter, Christmas and other holidays including back to school supplies and other ongoing needs throughout the year.

We help with training of foster families, who are required to have 15 hours of training per year to maintain their certifications.

We make cash donations to families from time to time in the form of Walmart or gas gift cards.

Kids for Life also has a Community Room for the foster training, birthday parties and other events.

We assist our foster families in Marion County to ensure all our children in care have the proper beds, cribs and car seats to meet each child’s needs.

One of our favorite events is our annual Christmas celebration where kids in care and kids in the families where they live receive giant (3.5’ tall) stockings filled with toys, as well as other gifts. Other community organizations have participated as well, making these memorable and joyful for the children.
